A Call to 40 Days of Focus
In June 2020 we sent out a churchwide survey. There was a question that asked about areas of greatest struggle. 48% (the largest percent) of those who filled out the survey chose “self discipline & time management” as an area of struggle. We want you to know that we hear you and we want to walk alongside you as we seek to grow both individually and corporately in this struggle.
A series Jeff has preached on is called Day by Day: Joy with Jesus. Part of the focus of this series is on how the power to be a healthy Christian in every day life comes from an abiding in Christ. This is something that every Christian struggles with to some extent. We’re offering a tool that Christians have been using for hundreds of years to grow in this very area. We know this can often seem daunting and so we will be with you along the way, being the church, and engaging in the “one anothers” of Scripture to make it a little less daunting. We’ve found that one of the key pieces in managing our time is a need to orient our thoughts around God first and then much of what has previously caused stress in our schedules, becomes much less stressful. This isn’t one more thing to fill your schedule. It’s actually a very small time commitment, but it’s so purposeful that it can make a huge impact.
The guide we’ll be using is called Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day: A 40-Day Journey with the Daily Office. We want to walk through this 40-day devotional together as a way to encourage one another to abide in Christ day-by-day. You can purchase your own copy here. You’re welcome to purchase the Kindle copy if you’d like (anyone can download the Kindle app—you don’t have to own a Kindle).
We’ll begin our 40 Days on Wednesday, August 12th.
